First Spiritual Development Course in Vermont!
On April 23, 24, and 25, we were allowed to hold the very first spiritual development course in Brattleboro, Vermont. The members in Vermont are so happy! We can hardly believe this historic event actually took place.

Vermont has four active members. We attend monthly ceremony at the New York center every month, weather permitting, which is about a four hour drive from Vermont. We have had open house for giving Light in members' homes for about 15 years.
About two years ago, in 2008, we attended a March monthly ceremony when the regional director of North America was visiting. In the middle of his lecture, he said we were going to have a spiritual development course in Vermont. My fellow members from Vermont looked at each other and said, "We are?" as we hadn't really been guiding anyone. Many people we gave Light to had become interested in taking the course, but something would always happen at the last minute and
they would drop out. This happened many times. We would become a little discouraged and then just decide to move forward and continue to give Light no matter what.
About a month later, we scheduled a lecture at an art gallery in Brattleboro, a city in the southern part of the state where Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts come together. The gallery regularly hosts lectures and programs. We created a flyer to advertise the lecture and promoted it by word of mouth to neighbors, family, and friends. Our center director came and gave an introductory lecture for an hour, which about 30 people attended.
The lecture was a huge success, and we gave Light to everyone after the lecture. We also served a light lunch. People didn't seem to want to leave. Many people were very impressed and started to come for Light on a regular basis. About a year later, in 2009, our center director came up again and gave another lecture and there was standing room only. After that lecture, several people said they wanted to take the course.
On April 25, 2010, exactly one year to the day of the lecture by our current center director, four people received Omitama, two men and two women. It was an amazing weekend. During the spiritual development course, I couldn't help but feel the wonder of it all and just how awesome it was to have holy Goshintai in Vermont for the first time and to have guided four new members. I felt such incredible encouragement from Su God.
We have doubled our membership in Vermont in just one weekend, thanks to Su God!
We have open house three times a week, on Tuesday and Friday mornings and on Wednesday evening. Please come visit and send your friends! Call the New York center for information on how to find us.
It is so exciting to be expanding and spreading the Light and teachings here in the Northeast. We will continue to do our best.
